From Elevator Speech to $$$ - Funding Your Documentary

Every documentary begins with a story, but every documentary also needs funding. This workshop provides an overview of practical strategies filmmakers can use to finance their projects, from short community stories to feature length productions. Participants will learn how to identify the type of documentary they are making, develop a compelling elevator pitch and communicate the value of their project to potential supporters. Alan will cover traditional funding sources such as grants and fiscal sponsorships, as well as grassroots approaches including crowdfunding, community partnerships, local business sponsors and support from friends and family.
