40 Years of FUSION

40 Years of FUSION

AVX didn’t start as a massive tradeshow. In 1986, it launched as the Rocky Mountain Film & Video Expo, a focused gathering for filmmakers, videographers, and post-production teams looking to understand and embrace rapidly changing technology.

Over four decades, as analog turned digital and SD became HD, 4K, HDR and beyond, the show evolved in step with the industry:

  • From film and tape to file-based workflows
  • From linear editing to non-linear, software-based editing
  • From local playback to streaming, remote production and IP-based AV

Rebranded as AVX, the show expanded beyond film and video into professional audio, live event technology, AV integration, content creation, and media distribution — a true FUSION of disciplines.

Today, as AVX celebrates its 40-year anniversary, it continues to honor its roots while embracing the latest in AV technology, production, and post-production. The spirit that launched the Rocky Mountain Film & Video Expo lives on: a passion for helping professionals adapt, learn, and thrive in a constantly evolving media landscape.
